Review: Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Goldmine

I've been trying to replicate and master the gold and black double liner eye look for years now but I can never seem to find the correct shade or formula of gold liner. It's especially difficult for me to find a gold shade that works well with my skin given my yellow undertones. I've searched high and low for the best possible gold liner and so far the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Goldmine ($20) has been my best bet.

Source: Glamour.com
The Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Goldmine is a yellow-gold creamy pencil liner with gold micro-sparkles in it. Think Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero but gold. The liner glides onto the lids easily and does not smudge. However, it fades quickly to the point where in a few hours it begins to blend in with my skin and you can hardly tell I had it on in the first place. I tried setting it with gold eyeshadow but it only extended the longevity of the liner by an hour or two.

While this is the best gold liner I've found to achieve this look it's still not ideal. I'm currently using this liner in my inner corners and bottom lid in an attempt to use it up, but if I can find the receipt I'll definitely be returning it (if I still can). If you have any suggestions about what gold liner I should try feel free to leave it in a comment below, ideally I'd be looking for a liquid liner but if there are any other formulas that you've found works for you I'm open to ideas.

September Empties (Products I've Used Up)

Greetings from London! My sincerest apologies for not posting in over a week, I haven't had the chance to sit down in my room since I got here. I filmed this video back at home before I left and had meant to post it the Wednesday before my flight but per usual, life got in the way. Please keep watching to see what products I used up in the month of September and whether I'd repurchase them or not.

Colors of the Rainbow Tag!

The Colors of the Rainbow Tag has been floating around YouTube for quite some time now. Since it's the most current and popular tag at the moment, I decided to give it a shot and I had a lot of fun with it! The colors are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, pink and multicolored and you're supposed to find beauty and fashion products that correspond to those colors.

Review: Urban Decay - Glinda Palette

I was eyeing this palette for a really long time before I caved in and purchased it. I must've gone into Sephora and swatched it like at least 5 times. So when the VIB Chic Week code came around, I jumped at a chance to get this Urban Decay Oz the Great and Powerful Glinda Palette ($49). Now I warn you because I know this is going to be quite a long post. I'm going to be reviewing the entire set, meaning the shadows, the liner and the lip gloss pencil. So be ready for a lot of writing.

February Wish List 2013

February is quite a busy month for me; my classes are starting to kick into high gear and with Chinese New Year on the 10th and Valentine's day on the 14th, there's a lot going on in my life. I'm not sure if I mentioned this already but I'm part of a lion dance team, which means that around the time of Chinese New Year, we start to get a lot of shows and it also means I'll be on the road a lot with no wifi to blog! I'm going to try to write up posts ahead of time and schedule them to be published so my blog won't be completely post-less this month. Also, I mentioned that I hit over 100 followers while I was on vacation last month and I've been wanting to do a giveaway but since this month will be so busy, my giveaway might have to be pushed to next month. I'll keep all my followers updated via Twitter so if you don't already follow me, make sure to follow for updates!

Now let's get on to the real post, my February Wish List!

February Wish List 2013

1. Urban Decay The Glinda Palette ($39) - I really want to watch this movie! The palette has a lot of pretty and girly shades that I don't have in my collection. Also, if I was to be in the movie, I'd probably be Glinda.

2. Orly Nail Lacquer in Rage ($7.79) - I've been wanting this polish shade since forever. It's a very pretty rose gold color that would look great worn alone or used for designs.

3. Wet N Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Palette - This item on my wish list isn't a specific product. Believe it or not, I have never tried a Wet N Wild eyeshadow and I've always been meaning to. They're so inexpensive and I hear such great things about them but I hardly shop at my drugstore since everything is so overpriced and it's not sold at Target so I never got around to trying it. I think it's about time I picked one up.

4. Anastasia Beauty Express for Brows and Eyes ($39.50) - I've been neglecting my brows in terms of shaping them. I've been just plucking the strays and hoping they turn out alright. This set comes with 4 stencils, a brush, a duo powder, gel and a duo shadow so I'll have no excuse to be lazy about my brows.

I hope this post turns out alright because I'm writing it from my iPhone while on the road upstate to perform. I'll talk to you all soon!

January Favorites

I didn't even realize it was already February until I looked at my calendar today, and you know what the beginning of a new month means: monthly favorites! All my favorites from the month of January were products that I brought with me on vacation. They've certainly been pushed to their limits since while I was on vacation I was running around, out for over 12 hours a day and I didn't have much time to stop and reapply makeup.
January Favorites 2013

1. Laura Mercier Shimmer Bloc in Golden Mosaic ($40) - I got a sample size of this product from the In The Glow set I bought from Sephora and decided to bring it with me since one half of it has contour shades and the other half has highlight shades. I used this product the entire time I was on vacation to highlight and contour and it worked perfectly. However, if you don't like any kind of shimmer in your highlighting and contouring products then I would skip this since it does have a hint of shimmer in it.

2. Too Faced Lashgasm Mascara ($21) - I got this full sized product as part of my Too Faced Shadow  Bon Bons ($42) set and reviewed it along with the shadows and Shadow Insurance here. I mentioned how it impressed me in my review and it impressed me once again while I was on vacation. It's perfect for lengthening and defining your lashes. It also stayed put all day and didn't smudge.

3. Urban Decay Naked Palette ($50) - Do I even need to explain why this made it onto my favorites this month? It's my go to palette for traveling since it has all the warm neutral colors I love and could possibly need while I'm away. It's an oldie but a definite goodie, and if you don't have it, I highly suggest getting it!

4. Sigma Mrs. Bunny Essential Kit ($120) - Okay, I know the picture is not of the Mrs. Bunny Essential Kit but rather the Mr. Bunny Essential Kit, but you'll have to excuse that since for some reason I couldn't find the Mrs. Bunny set when I was creating this favorites set. Anyways, I finally purchased Sigma's synthetic Sigmax brush set and I brought it with me on vacation and loved it! The brushes are so smooth and soft, and they apply makeup wonderfully.

5. Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder with Real Cocoa ($29) - I also got this as part of the In The Glow set from Sephora and I brought it with me on vacation since it was a smaller travel sized version and I had heard great things about it. I used it the entire time I was on vacation and I absolutely loved it. It really does smell like chocolate and it gives your skin this nice hint of color.

6. Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm in Cherry Me ($2.97) - I believe this has showed up on my favorites list before and it's back on because this was the only lip product I used while I was on vacation. It's so easy to apply and it gives a nice hint of gloss and color. It's also very moisturizing so I was able to get a good color on my lips and hydrate them at the same time! The product also conveniently fits in my boyfriend's pockets so that was a plus as well. If you want to know more, I wrote a review here.

December Favorites

Even though I just concluded my Elle Awards of 2012 earlier this week, awarding my favorite products for eyes, lips and face, I still wanted to do a monthly favorites because they may not be reflected in my top products of the year. I also wanted to let everyone know that I'm interning full time for a family friend during January and then on the 16th I'll be leaving for Orlando where I'll be staying for the remainder of the month until I start classes again, which means I won't be posting as often this month. I'm going to try to get as many posts up as I can in the beginning of the month to make up for a lack of posts towards the end. But, I'll definitely be tweeting and posting pics of my trip on Instagram so be sure to follow me there for updates!

December Favorites 2012

1. Pixi Correction Concentrate in Brightening Peach ($15) - I mentioned that I hoped this product would be a dupe for my Bobbi Brown Corrector ($23) in my Target & Lush haul back in November and much to my pleasure it practically is. Now, the reason I say practically is because while the shade, texture and correcting effect is all the same, I've noticed the Pixi corrector is a tad bit sheerer than the Bobbi Brown. While this may seem like a bummer, it works almost just as well and is $8 cheaper. For now this product is under my favorites, but I may switch back to the Bobbi Brown depending on how I feel once I use up this entire product.

2. Eyeko Skinny Brush Mascara ($19) - This product won an award for Best Mascara in my Elle Awards of 2012, and for good reason. It lengthens your lashes like crazy and it doesn't smudge. I have a terrible problem with mascara smudging underneath my eyes but this one stays put by the end of the day. I also wrote an in depth review of it here if you'd like to know more.

3. Aussie Aussome Volume Mousse ($2.50) - This volumizer was on my December Wish List and the first chance I got I raced to Target and picked it up. I've been using this product every day I go out ever since I purchased it last month and I love it. It definitely gives my hair some volume and body, which my stick straight and thin Asian hair seriously needs.

4. Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray ($29) - I've had this product for quite a while now and since I've gotten a lot busier and have been out longer these days, I've started to use it almost daily. It's great for setting my makeup and making it last throughout the day.

5. Lush Sweet Lips Lip Scrub ($9.95) - I've always loved this product but I've started appreciating it more since the cold weather has been taking a serious toll on my lips. I use this product every morning and night in the shower to scrub away any dead skin and my lips have been looking soft and full all Winter!

Sephora VIB 20% Off Haul!

My fellow Sephora VIBs would know that this past weekend was the VIB exclusive 20% off sale. I try to wait all year long for this deal to come out before I buy anything I want from Sephora that I don't need right away. I hope my fellow VIBs enjoyed their 20% off as much as I did because there were some real nice goodies out in stores this year!

1. Urban Decay De-Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray Travel Size ($12) - I currently have the UD All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray in the 4 oz. size and I love it. It really helps to keep my makeup looking good all day. However, since I first purchased it my skin type has slowly changed from normal to combination and I seem to have developed the problem of a very oily T-zone. I wanted to try the UD De-Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray to see if it would keep my makeup lasting longer and control the oils on my T-Zone. Luckily, I spied this travel size version hiding in those boxes at the checkout line and thought it was a sign from the makeup gods. I have a vacation coming up in January with my boyfriend and I had wanted to try this product anyways so I quickly grabbed it for it was the last one!

2. Tarte LipSurgence Collectors Set ($34) - I just tried looking for this set on Sephora's website and it seems it's already gone! I had been eyeing this LipSurgence set for about a month now because I had always wanted to try a Tarte LipSurgence but could never decide on one color. The shades included in this set were: Sweet, Elite, Exposed, Escape and Enchanted. They're all great colors for the Fall and I've been wearing them on my lips ever since I got them.

3. Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion - Blemish Prone/Oily Skin ($33) - I'd been searching for a new face moisturizer for months now since my skin type changed from Normal to Combination Oily and I finally found one I like! This moisturizer was recommended to me by one of the skin experts at the store and when she said it caters to blemish prone and oily skin I was sold. So far I've been really enjoying it and I've noticed my skin isn't as greasy as it would be hours after I apply it.

4. MUFE Full Cover Concealer ($32) - I know this was on one of my wish lists though I'm not sure which one, but anyways, I finally got it! I'd been in desperate need of a face concealer and this one works like a charm. It covers all my blemishes and redness like no other concealer I've ever tried.

5. BareMinerals READY SPF 15 Touch Up Veil ($22) - So I've never had my own pressed setting powder, I always used my mom's, and I finally found it time to buy my own. This product is basically a pressed powder version of the loose powder BareMinerals Mineral Veil and since I like that one I figured I'd like this one as well. It turns out though, that I like this one much more! I'm not a huge fan of loose powders because they're so messy and I like how I can take this pressed powder on vacation with me in January.

6. Boscia Pink Peppermint Blotting Linens ($5) - I have the Green Tea version of these and while I like the quality of the sheets, I can't stand the smell. So I figured this pack would smell much better and boy was I right. I like these a lot better and I'm considering stocking up on them!

7. Too Faced Shadow Bon Bons Set ($42) - This was the product I was most excited about purchasing. This is the first Too Faced product I've ever purchased and I'm glad I did because it comes with 12 beautiful shadows, a primer potion and a mascara. So far I'm really loving this palette because it comes with very pretty neutral colors like purples, pinks and browns. I'm hoping to do a review on this set very soon so keep your eyes out!

What have you recently bought from Sephora? Are you a Sephora VIB as well?
