Unboxing: May Ipsy Glam Bag

Toward the middle of the month most people get a little worn-out. It's not quite as exciting as the beginning of a new month, nor is it as satisfying as making it through to the end. However, what the middle of the month means to me is a new Ipsy Glam Bag full of surprise goodies to keep me going.

If you remember my bag from last month you'll know that it had a rocker chic vibe and was full of products that I was super excited to try. This month's bag is a little tamer with cosmetics in lighter colors and skincare products tailored for the summer.

April Ipsy Glam Bag

I know it's been a while since I last wrote a post and I sincerely apologize. Life got in the way as usual and I couldn't find the time to blog. I can't guarantee that I'll be back on a regular schedule since I'm graduating soon and finals are just around the corner, but I will try my best. Now let's get on to what this post is actually about.
My April Ipsy Glam Bag arrived while I was away in Spain and I couldn't have been more excited to see it waiting for me in my mailbox when I got back. I opened it right away and was instantly intrigued when I saw that it had a rock star theme. I thought smokey eyes and glitter, but what I found inside was all that and more.

Boots & Superdrug Haul!

I really apologize for this video being two days late. I had filmed this haul on Monday but when I went in to edit it I was really unhappy with the lighting and the quality. So I decided to re-film and re-edit the entire video. I'm still working out the kinks in my filming situation here at my dorm so bear with me while I try to get everything perfect.

Summer Clothing Haul (Brandy Melville, Forever 21, Pacsun + More!)

I did some shopping over the past few months and I wanted to share what I got with you all. Hauls are some of my favorite videos to watch because they give me ideas on what stores to hit up the next time I go shopping. Hopefully this video gives you all some ideas of where to buy some summer clothes!

NYC IMATS Haul! | China Glaze, Ardell, Inglot, OCC + Julie G

This post is way overdue but I finally have the time to sit down and write it. On Saturday, April 6th, I went with my friend Jessy to New York City IMATS. While I'm pretty sure almost all of you already know what IMATS is, in case you don't it stands for "International Makeup Artist Trade Show." It's a makeup convention where you can attend classes, purchase discounted makeup products and meet fellow makeup enthusiasts. IMATS is also known to be a great place to meet beauty gurus from YouTube and while I didn't get to meet anyone (I had to go home early to study for a midterm *booooo*), I did get to see Tracy & Stefanie of 11th Gorgeous and Julie G.

Being our first IMATS, Jessy and I wandered around completely lost and overwhelmed for a good 20 minutes trying to get our bearings and figure out how everything worked. Both of us were aiming to get a BeautyBlender from Alcone but we couldn't find the stand for the life of us and by the time we did they were all sold out. In order to make up for it we stopped off at Ardell where they were selling 5 for $15 China Glaze nail polishes and 4 for $10 Ardell false eyelashes.

From left to right:
1. China Glaze Nail Polish in Nova ($5.00) - A silver glitter top coat that I thought would look beautiful on top of other polishes or used in one of my nail art designs.
2. China Glaze Holographic Nail Polish in Cosmic Dust ($4.95) - I have no idea what it means to be a holographic nail polish so I had to pick this one up just to see. I haven't used it yet but as soon as I do I'll definitely be instagramming a pic! It's a metallic silver gray that looks very reflective.
3. China Glaze Nail Polish in Wicked Style ($4.37) - The only really colorful polish of the bunch. It's a berry pink that I thought would look great for the summer.
4. China Glaze Nail Polish in Avalanche ($2.51) - It looks a lot like the holographic polish I picked up but since it's not labeled as a holographic polish I guess it's not. It's a much darker silver gray than Cosmic Dust but it has the same metallic sheen.
5. China Glaze Nail Polish in Snow Globe ($4.90) - A white glitter topcoat that literally looks like the snow within a snow globe. It was too beautiful to pass up and I thought it'd be perfect for nail art when Winter comes back around.

From top to bottom, left to right:
1. Ardell Color Impact Lashes in Demi Wispies Blue ($3.97) - This was actually my last pick of the bunch and I only got it since I figured it'd be good to get some falsies for when I go to rages. I was planning on going to Electric Zoo later in August but the tickets are so expensive I can't really afford it.
2. Ardell Runway Lashes in Fancy ($5.73) - I got sucked in by the four rhinestones at the ends of the lashes. I thought they'd be perfect for clubbing.
3. Ardell Natural Lashes in Wispies Black ($3.93) - I wanted a natural pair of lashes for everyday use or if I do decide to start making YouTube videos. I was really looking for Demi Wispies but they didn't seem to have any in stock so I went with the closest I could get.
4. Ardell Double Up in 204 Black ($7.99) - Jessy convinced me to get these because I really couldn't decide on anything. I never tried really full and dramatic falsies before so I figured "4 for $10 how could I go wrong?"

Our next stop was Inglot since Jessy was on the hunt for a dark red lipstick. I had been wanting to try the Inglot Freedom System for a while and I always heard their eyeshadows were amazing so I decided to make my own palette.

1. Inglot Lipstick in 279 ($12) - When Jessy was looking for a red lipstick I got suckered into buying THIS coral orange shade for my own collection even though I really didn't need it but it was only $9 so I guess it's not too bad.
2. Inglot Freedom System (Eyeshadows $6 each + Palette $10) - The individual shadows were $5 each and the palette was $8 so my palette came out to a total of $28. From left to right, top to bottom I got the shades 397, 74, 14 and 40. I promise an in-depth review as soon as I use this palette enough times.

Then we headed over to Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics since both of us wanted to try a lip tar for the first time. After we purchased our lip tars we realized neither of us had a lip brush so we headed over to Royal & Langnickel to get a lip brush.
1. Royal & Langnickel Taklon Pointed Lip Brush ($4) - I don't believe these brushes are sold online unfortunately. I've yet to use it but the bristles feel extremely soft and it's the perfect shape.
2. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Queen ($18) - I really have a thing for pinks and corals so it came to no surprise that I'd fall for a neon red coral lip tar. What sold me even more was the fact that the product's name was Queen. I only paid $12 for the lip tar as opposed to $18 retail so that made me even happier!

Our last stop was at the Jesse's Girl booth, which we didn't even plan to stop at. It was on our way to the exit and we saw that the Julie G polishes were 3 for $10 so being polish addicts we got sidetracked. I only wanted 2 shades and she only wanted 1 so we ended up going 2 and 1 on the 3 for $10. That's quite a lot of numbers!
1. Julie G Nail Color in You-Niverse ($3.99) - I can't seem to find the individual shade online but I know these are typically sold at Rite Aids. I picked this shade up since it looked like a dupe for Deborah Lippmann's Sugar Daddy. I instagrammed a picture of this on my nails recently and I have to admit it looks really nice! It's a gold duo-chrome polish with a metallic finish.
2. Julie G Nail Color in Mermaid's Tale ($3.99) - A green glitter polish suspended in a blue base, this product looks like the darker sister of Deborah Lippmann's Mermaid's Dream. Is it also a coincidence that both these polishes have the word Mermaid in their name?
I really had a great time at NYC IMATS and hopefully I'll get to go back next year. I'll definitely be more prepared for all the crowds and craziness. Jessy and I are also planning to attend LA IMATS next year if we can afford it so here's to hoping! I've heard that the IMATS in LA is a lot bigger and a lot more brands and YTers show up, if you've ever been to LA IMATS share your experience in a comment below.

Haul: Target & Lush

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I unfortunately caught a very bad cold over the weekend but I still managed to get in some Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping. I was planning on doing a Black Friday haul but not everything I ordered has come in yet but as soon as it does I'll have one up. So I recently went to two of my favorite stores, Target and Lush, and of course I had to walk out with something.

1. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Sassy Mauve ($4.99) - I've been looking for more Fall lipstick shades and when Tracy and Stephanie of Eleventh Gorgeous mentioned this one in their Fall Drugstore Lipsticks video I knew I had to have it. I don't have any mauve shades in my collection and this lipstick makes a great new addition!
2. Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie ($6.16) - Another wonderful Fall lipstick recommendation from Tracy and Stephanie's Fall Drugstore Lipsticks video, this lip butter is a very wearable berry color. I also don't have any deep berry colors in my collection so this makes a great new addition as well.
3. LUSH Ocean Salt Scrub ($21.95) - I got two samples of this wonderful Lush product in my last Lush haul and I've been using a little bit of it every week since. I'm totally in love with it now and I purchased a 4.2 oz size, since it does expire in a little over a year and I only use about a dime sized every week.
4. LUSH Tea Tree Water Toner ($21.95) - I bought the 3.3 fl oz size in my last Lush haul and I've almost used it all up. I love to use this after I take a shower to tone my face. I like to spritz it onto a cotton pad and pat it all over my T-Zone to soak up any excess oils.
5. Pixi Correction Concentrate in Brightening Peach ($15) - This corrector was at the top of my November Wish List because I was hoping it would be a dupe for my much loved Bobbi Brown Corrector ($23). I've only been able to use it once so far but it seems to be like a good dupe, I'll need a little bit more time with it before I reach a decision though but when I do you all will be the first to find out!

Sephora VIB 20% Off Haul!

My fellow Sephora VIBs would know that this past weekend was the VIB exclusive 20% off sale. I try to wait all year long for this deal to come out before I buy anything I want from Sephora that I don't need right away. I hope my fellow VIBs enjoyed their 20% off as much as I did because there were some real nice goodies out in stores this year!

1. Urban Decay De-Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray Travel Size ($12) - I currently have the UD All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray in the 4 oz. size and I love it. It really helps to keep my makeup looking good all day. However, since I first purchased it my skin type has slowly changed from normal to combination and I seem to have developed the problem of a very oily T-zone. I wanted to try the UD De-Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray to see if it would keep my makeup lasting longer and control the oils on my T-Zone. Luckily, I spied this travel size version hiding in those boxes at the checkout line and thought it was a sign from the makeup gods. I have a vacation coming up in January with my boyfriend and I had wanted to try this product anyways so I quickly grabbed it for it was the last one!

2. Tarte LipSurgence Collectors Set ($34) - I just tried looking for this set on Sephora's website and it seems it's already gone! I had been eyeing this LipSurgence set for about a month now because I had always wanted to try a Tarte LipSurgence but could never decide on one color. The shades included in this set were: Sweet, Elite, Exposed, Escape and Enchanted. They're all great colors for the Fall and I've been wearing them on my lips ever since I got them.

3. Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion - Blemish Prone/Oily Skin ($33) - I'd been searching for a new face moisturizer for months now since my skin type changed from Normal to Combination Oily and I finally found one I like! This moisturizer was recommended to me by one of the skin experts at the store and when she said it caters to blemish prone and oily skin I was sold. So far I've been really enjoying it and I've noticed my skin isn't as greasy as it would be hours after I apply it.

4. MUFE Full Cover Concealer ($32) - I know this was on one of my wish lists though I'm not sure which one, but anyways, I finally got it! I'd been in desperate need of a face concealer and this one works like a charm. It covers all my blemishes and redness like no other concealer I've ever tried.

5. BareMinerals READY SPF 15 Touch Up Veil ($22) - So I've never had my own pressed setting powder, I always used my mom's, and I finally found it time to buy my own. This product is basically a pressed powder version of the loose powder BareMinerals Mineral Veil and since I like that one I figured I'd like this one as well. It turns out though, that I like this one much more! I'm not a huge fan of loose powders because they're so messy and I like how I can take this pressed powder on vacation with me in January.

6. Boscia Pink Peppermint Blotting Linens ($5) - I have the Green Tea version of these and while I like the quality of the sheets, I can't stand the smell. So I figured this pack would smell much better and boy was I right. I like these a lot better and I'm considering stocking up on them!

7. Too Faced Shadow Bon Bons Set ($42) - This was the product I was most excited about purchasing. This is the first Too Faced product I've ever purchased and I'm glad I did because it comes with 12 beautiful shadows, a primer potion and a mascara. So far I'm really loving this palette because it comes with very pretty neutral colors like purples, pinks and browns. I'm hoping to do a review on this set very soon so keep your eyes out!

What have you recently bought from Sephora? Are you a Sephora VIB as well?

Target Haul!

I went to Target last weekend and got some really awesome stuff that I wanted to share with you all. I would have made a post earlier but I'm still so busy with midterms that I'm just trying to get posts up as soon as I can. I still have two weeks left of midterms to go so bear with me and I promise a lot of great posts to come!

I was looking for some really specific stuff at Target and I was shocked that I found everything I wanted. Usually the shelves are raided and empty at the Target I go to so finding limited edition items or popular items is typically hard for me.

1. Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat ($3.99) - I ran out of top coat at home and I had a goal in mind to get one at Target. I wasn't set on any specific top coat but when I happened upon this one I recalled xteeener from YT mentioning it in one of her videos and I was interested in giving it a try. I used it recently and it actually works, my nails dried in under a minute!

2. Sally Hansen Double Duty Strengthening Base & Top Coat ($3.99) - And what a coincidence, I ran out of base coat as well at home so I also needed to pick that up at Target. I got this base and top coat from Sally Hansen because there were no base coats and all the base and top coats were expensive except for this one. It does the job so I can't complain.

3. L'Oreal Voluminous Full Definition Mascara ($5.84) - I had been wanting this mascara ever since MakeupByTiffanyD mentioned it in one of her videos and showed pictures of how volumizing and lengthening it was on her lashes. I've used it a few times and it's definitely one of the best drugstore mascaras I've tried. I'll probably be doing a review on it soon.

4. EOS Alice in Wonderland Lip Balm Limited Edition Collection ($7.99) - Unfortunately there is no link to this online so you'll have to visit your nearest Target to get it but this was my main objective of going to Target. I had seen some photos of it floating around the beauty blogosphere and I knew I had to get it. I love Disney, I go to Disney World every year, and I've recently become addicted to EOS lip balms after I purchased the Strawberry Sorbet one. The flavors are: Blueberry Potion, Watermelon Wonderland and Sweet Vanilla Nonsense. If you're interested I highly recommend going to check it out ASAP because they are limited edition and only sold in Target. Also, where the finger indentation typically is on the packaging, there's a Mickey Mouse face instead!

5. Essie Nail Polish in Bahama Mama ($7.79) - Everybody keeps mentioning this shade as being one of the top shades for Fall so I had to check it out. I don't like dark nail polishes all too much but this one is actually really flattering. It's a deep rich purple and I think it'd look great on all skin tones. I recently painted my nails with this shade so if you want to see a swatch check out my Instagram (@lipstickndlace).

6. NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny ($2.99) - Once again, unfortunately there is no link to this online but this product is readily available in every drug store and Target there is. It's a great matte bronzer and I'm sure most of you have heard of it before. I really like it and it's started to replace my MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Give Me Sun! The color is a lot lighter than the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish so it looks more natural on my paler Fall skin tone. I'll try to do a review soon on this as well.

That's all that I bought this go around and I'm extremely satisfied with all my purchases, which is actually a first for me. I hope you all enjoyed this and have a wonderful day!

B&BW Haul!

I know, I'm really late with this haul because I went shopping at Bath and Body Works like over a week ago during their giant Fall sale but please forgive me for I was working on the Tag: 10 Things I Would Repurchase post and I had a lot of classwork to catch up on. But I digress, I guess it's better later than never right?

I only have pictures of some of the items I purchased because some of the things I took to my boyfriend's place and some, like the wall scents, were not very photogenic. I didn't go too crazy during this latest B&BW purchase but all the new scents were really enticing so I did end up with quite a lot.

They had a buy 3, get 3 free deal on signature collection body care and while I'm not a fan of anything but their shower gels, the new Paris collection caught my attention. From left to right I have Paris in Bloom, Pink Chiffon, Paris Nights and Warm Vanilla Sugar. Paris in Bloom, which is part of the newest Paris collection, is a really pretty orangey-pink with a fruity floral scent of "pink peony, dewy pear and blonde woods." Pink Chiffon is an older scent that I never really paid much mind to, but my mom really liked it so I figured I'd give it a try. It's a purple-pink fruity scent with a hint of floral, on the bottle it says its an "ultra-feminine blend of sparkling red pear, vanilla orchid and whipped chiffon musk." Another scent from the new Paris collection is Paris Nights, a deep purple color, it smells like rich champagne floral scent. According to B&BW it is a "seductive blend of French jasmine, clementine and cabernet musk," it smells a bit strong in the bottle but I figure it'll smell amazing in the shower. Finally I got the one scent that I never tire of, Warm Vanilla Sugar, which is a light yellow color that looks like vanilla extract and smells of, what else, vanilla!

Next I got some 2 for $20 candles that I absolutely love because they have amazing scents and even though they seem very pricey for $10 a pop, they last for months because they're huge! The newest Fall scents just came out when I was at the store so I picked up a Leaves candle and a Marshmallow Fireside candle. I brought the Leaves candle to my boyfriend's house so I don't have a picture of it, but trust me when I say it smells amazing. It smells like cinnamon with a woodsy undertone, like if you found a bakery in the woods, which makes me think of Hansel and Gretel, but don't worry, no hungry witches will be cooking you for dinner. As for Marshmallow Fireside, it smells like roasting marshmallows over a fire...duh. It has a sweet scent that's not overpowering, so among the other food related candles, like Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin or Pumpkin Cupcake, you won't get suffocated by the smell of deliciousness.

I also purchased some wallflower refills as I mentioned, and I got 4 for $20. I got a Leaves, a Warm Vanilla Sugar, a Fresh Linen and a Jasmine Cherry Blossom. Finally, I got a True Blue Spa Super Rich Hand Cream with a coupon for a free item of your choice with purchase.

Even though I bought these things over a week ago, B&BW is still having a lot of the same promotions. Last time I checked the 2 for $20 candles and 4 for $20 wallflower scents were still going on. As for the buy 3 get 3 free deal on the signature body collection, you'll probably have to wait until next month. They usually have a lot of promotions so if you wait a little while a promo on what you want to buy is sure to come up. So if you're interested, head on over there now!

Sephora Haul!

This past Monday I went to Sephora Soho with one of my girlfriends to get a free VIB makeover. The makeup artist did a great natural but pretty look on me and she helped me pick out some cosmetics as well. Here's what I got:

I know that summer is coming to an end and my skin is slowly fading back to its natural fairness, but I really needed a foundation for the nights that I go out and want some more coverage. I usually wear Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer SPF 18 during the day but when I go out with my friends and my boyfriend at night sometimes I want to look a bit more polished. I also noticed my skin type changed drastically this summer, going from normal skin to combination/oily. The makeup artist recommended this Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H Foundation ($44) in the shade 310 Bisque (C).

The next thing I got was this Stila Perfecting Concealer ($23) in the shade D. I've noticed that my dark circles have been getting worse since I've started taking summer classes and they've also been getting very dry from allergies. I needed a moisturizing yet full coverage concealer that didn't look too cakey and it looked pretty good to me when she applied it to my face. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep this concealer because I'm afraid the shade might be too dark but I'll give it a try and see what happens.

The last thing I got was this Sephora Pro Flawless Airbrush #56 ($32). I've been looking for a good face brush that will give me an airbrush finish so I don't look too caked up but at the same time I still get decent coverage. The bristles are extremely soft and it's small enough to get into corners but big enough to cover a decent area of my face. I usually use Sigma brushes because they're much cheaper but I've noticed that their face brushes tend to irritate my sensitive skin since they shed and aren't as soft as I'd like.

I'm really excited to try out the foundation and the foundation brush but I'm pretty sketchy about the concealer. I'll let you all know how each of them goes with a review once I feel I've gotten enough experience with each!
