Boots & Superdrug Haul!

I really apologize for this video being two days late. I had filmed this haul on Monday but when I went in to edit it I was really unhappy with the lighting and the quality. So I decided to re-film and re-edit the entire video. I'm still working out the kinks in my filming situation here at my dorm so bear with me while I try to get everything perfect.

Review: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles

For real though...what is up with the drugstore these days?! I went from being a total drugstore hater to a drugstore junkie. I think I've said this in my past like 5 posts but the drugstore has really been killing it lately! I swear that almost everything I've tried from the drugstore in the past few months has been a hit and this Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles ($7.99) is no exception.

Review: Revlon Lip Butter in Wild Watermelon

I'm sure all my regular readers could already tell but in case you're new to this blog, I'm a huge fan of the Revlon Lip Butters! When I heard that a new set of shades were coming out for Spring/Summer I made a mental note to pick at least one of them up the next time I made a stop at Target to get groceries. I had done a little bit of research before I went and was really torn between the shades Juicy Papaya and Wild Watermelon ($6.49).

Review: e.l.f. Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder in St. Lucia

I purchased this ELF Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzer in St. Lucia ($3) back in March when I went to Wal-Mart with my friends to buy some beads to make Kandi with for Ultra. I picked it up while we were waiting on line at the register so I didn't take a very good look at it. Everyone always has good things to say about this blush and bronzer duo and I figured since it's only $3 I wouldn't lose much if it didn't work out for me.

Packaging: The product comes in a plain black case that kind of imitates NARS blush/bronzer packaging. Unlike the NARS packaging however, the case is made of plastic instead of rubber, which is a definite plus since the rubber packaging can get dirty quickly. When you open it up there is a huge mirror on one side and the blush and bronzer duo on the other.

Formula: The blush and bronzer are both very powdery and contain a lot of gold glitter. I sometimes like to have glitter in my blushes but in my bronzer is a big no-no; because of this I would highly suggest not using it as an all over bronzing shade.

Application: The bronzer is definitely very pigmented but the blush is somewhat sheer and leaves much to be desired. I believe it's possible to build up more color on the blush but because of all the glitter I'm afraid I'd look like a disco ball. Also beware of the glitter spreading to other parts of your face and possibly your clothes (or your boyfriends!) if you brush against it.

Longevity: Since it's already very hard to see the blush color on my cheeks I couldn't really tell how long it lasted, but the glitter was definitely there all day. The bronzer shade did fade throughout the day and by night time I could hardly tell I contoured.
Overall I'm definitely not repurchasing this product. Although the packaging makes it very convenient for traveling, the actual quality of the product is definitely not up to my standards. What's the point of having a convenient duo if it does absolutely nothing for you?

Review: Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Sassy Mauve

If you remember, I purchased this Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Sassy Mauve ($4.99) as part of my Target & Lush haul last month. This has quickly become my favorite lip shade for the Fall and I'm sure it will continue being a favorite into the Winter.

Packaging: The lipstick comes in the classic black Revlon lipstick tube with the gold stripe around the center. It looks very Chanel-esque and luxurious. I also like how the top of the container has a little window so you can see the lip color inside.

Quality: For a drugstore lipstick costing me ~$4.99 the quality is amazing, but I expect no less from Revlon. This specific shade is a pinkish mauve with a satin finish. It looks great when worn alone and would look beautiful with a gloss on top. It also isn't too drying but I still like to apply lip balm before I apply my lipstick.

Application: Since it's a typical stick formula lipstick it's easy to apply like you would any normal lipstick. For this specific shade, I actually prefer to pat it onto my lips instead of swiping it on normally because it can be a bit bold. The color payoff is amazing as you can see from the swatch above.

Longevity: The lipstick isn't particularly long wearing, it lasts for maybe 4-5 hours until you need to reapply but even as it fades it still adds a nice color to your lips.
I would definitely repurchase this lipstick and I just love Revlon products in general. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for an easy to wear every day Fall shade. It works with just about any kind of eye makeup and any kind of outfit, and it looks great day or night.

Target Haul!

I went to Target last weekend and got some really awesome stuff that I wanted to share with you all. I would have made a post earlier but I'm still so busy with midterms that I'm just trying to get posts up as soon as I can. I still have two weeks left of midterms to go so bear with me and I promise a lot of great posts to come!

I was looking for some really specific stuff at Target and I was shocked that I found everything I wanted. Usually the shelves are raided and empty at the Target I go to so finding limited edition items or popular items is typically hard for me.

1. Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat ($3.99) - I ran out of top coat at home and I had a goal in mind to get one at Target. I wasn't set on any specific top coat but when I happened upon this one I recalled xteeener from YT mentioning it in one of her videos and I was interested in giving it a try. I used it recently and it actually works, my nails dried in under a minute!

2. Sally Hansen Double Duty Strengthening Base & Top Coat ($3.99) - And what a coincidence, I ran out of base coat as well at home so I also needed to pick that up at Target. I got this base and top coat from Sally Hansen because there were no base coats and all the base and top coats were expensive except for this one. It does the job so I can't complain.

3. L'Oreal Voluminous Full Definition Mascara ($5.84) - I had been wanting this mascara ever since MakeupByTiffanyD mentioned it in one of her videos and showed pictures of how volumizing and lengthening it was on her lashes. I've used it a few times and it's definitely one of the best drugstore mascaras I've tried. I'll probably be doing a review on it soon.

4. EOS Alice in Wonderland Lip Balm Limited Edition Collection ($7.99) - Unfortunately there is no link to this online so you'll have to visit your nearest Target to get it but this was my main objective of going to Target. I had seen some photos of it floating around the beauty blogosphere and I knew I had to get it. I love Disney, I go to Disney World every year, and I've recently become addicted to EOS lip balms after I purchased the Strawberry Sorbet one. The flavors are: Blueberry Potion, Watermelon Wonderland and Sweet Vanilla Nonsense. If you're interested I highly recommend going to check it out ASAP because they are limited edition and only sold in Target. Also, where the finger indentation typically is on the packaging, there's a Mickey Mouse face instead!

5. Essie Nail Polish in Bahama Mama ($7.79) - Everybody keeps mentioning this shade as being one of the top shades for Fall so I had to check it out. I don't like dark nail polishes all too much but this one is actually really flattering. It's a deep rich purple and I think it'd look great on all skin tones. I recently painted my nails with this shade so if you want to see a swatch check out my Instagram (@lipstickndlace).

6. NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny ($2.99) - Once again, unfortunately there is no link to this online but this product is readily available in every drug store and Target there is. It's a great matte bronzer and I'm sure most of you have heard of it before. I really like it and it's started to replace my MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Give Me Sun! The color is a lot lighter than the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish so it looks more natural on my paler Fall skin tone. I'll try to do a review soon on this as well.

That's all that I bought this go around and I'm extremely satisfied with all my purchases, which is actually a first for me. I hope you all enjoyed this and have a wonderful day!

Revlon Kissable Balm Stain (Cherish)

I've been dying to try these Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains since I first heard about it. I know they've been out for a while but it has been almost impossible for me to find them anywhere! I've hunted all over the city for it and I could never find them, and when I did they were in colors that did not look like they would be flattering on me. So finally, when I was able to find the colors I liked, I picked them up immediately. The shade that I'll be reviewing today is Cherish, a light pinkish lilac.

The packaging of this product is very similar to that of the Tarte LipSurgences. The color of the packaging represents the color of the balm stain. It twists up so you never have to sharpen it but the downfall to that is that you won't have a nice pointed tip forever. I can deal with it since a chubby stick product like this would be hard to find a sharpener for.

The product itself is wonderful and was exactly what I was looking for. When you first apply it the color seems very sheer with a hint of mint (exactly like the Tarte LipSurgences), but as it oxidizes its true color comes out and almost matches that of the packaging. In the first hour or two of wear the color is very vibrant with a high gloss shine but as time goes on the gloss fades but the color stays on your lips.

I'm definitely interested in trying more colors but I've noticed that the color selection for this product is completely lacking. I've heard that the nude shades are not as pigmented and the rest of the shades are mostly pinks and purples. There is one red shade that looks interesting but so far I think I may have all the colors that would flatter my skin tone.

I highly recommend this product to anybody looking for a drugstore lip stain. It has good staying power and is a lot cheaper than buying a Tarte LipSurgence. The color and finish selection is not as great but it's pretty good if you're more into pinkish shades. This specific shade of Cherish is a very bright light purplish pink so I think it would flatter lighter skin tones the most. On a side note, all these colors, aside form the nudes, are very bright so they are great for a bold lip. I take points off for a lack of variety but in general, this is a great drugstore product.
