Review: L'Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation

I'd always been curious about drugstore foundations but I was always hesitant because of my bad experiences with drugstore products in the past. But as you can see from my recent string of posts, I've been having more and more good experiences with the drugstore so I finally caved in and bought myself a drugstore foundation. I ended up purchasing the L'Oreal True Match Lumi ($9.89) because I prefer a demi-matte complexion with medium coverage, which I had heard were characteristics of this foundation.

I've been using this foundation for around 2 weeks now and I'm so glad that this was my first drugstore foundation. It's definitely made a good impression on me on behalf of all the most raved about drugstore foundations out there, and for good reason. While the packaging is pretty lame, everything else about the product makes up for that. The foundation has light to medium coverage with a demi-matte finish, meaning it hides your imperfections and keeps your skin looking natural and healthy. One thing that I've noticed though, is that you definitely need to thoroughly shake this foundation before applying it, otherwise it tends to streak.

I like to use my beautyblender to apply the foundation to my face and I always set it with my bareMinerals Touch Up Veil. The foundation lasts all day and I'm always out from 9 AM to 8 PM on the weekdays, so that says a lot! It also stands up to the humid weather and sweaty summer days, which makes me love it even more. I do have to use a blotting sheet halfway through the day to take off excess shine, but I generally have to do that no matter what foundation or powder I'm using.

I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who is in the market for an affordable yet high quality foundation with dry to normal skin. I wouldn't suggest it for those with oilier skin because of the demi-matte finish, which could possibly make you too shiny. Otherwise, it's got a great finish, intense staying power and is excellent for those on a budget.

Review: Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Liner in Nude

I would like to sincerely apologize for my absence this past week. Over the weekend I broke up with my boyfriend of 2 years and really needed to take a week to focus on myself. I hope you all can understand that I really just couldn't bring myself to write a blog post or film a video. But now I'm back in the groove and will be posting regularly again, blog posts on Mondays and Fridays and a video on Wednesday.

Now that all that's out of the way let's get on with the real reason for this post, and that is to review a product that everyone and their mother has been raving about; Rimmel's Scandaleyes in Nude ($4.49). I feel like I've literally heard every YT guru and beauty blogger on the planet talking about this product and how amazing it is, so naturally, I had to try it out for myself.

I did some shopping over the past few months and I wanted to share what I got with you all. Hauls are some of my favorite videos to watch because they give me ideas on what stores to hit up the next time I go shopping. Hopefully this video gives you all some ideas of where to buy some summer clothes!

Manicure Monday: Chevron Nails

Can you believe I've never done Chevron nail art before? It's probably one of the simplest nail designs to do but it has always eluded me. So this week I finally decided to give it a try and I wanted to put a spin on it by adding in an ombre look. I used Essie Blanc for the white, Essie Off the Shoulder for the hot pink at the base and Sephora by OPI I'm Wired for the Coral stripe. I'm thinking about filming nail tutorials as I practice my nail art!

Review: L'Oreal Lip Lacquer in Rose On and On

I've been on a serious drugstore product review kick lately, but as I mentioned in my Maybelline Color Whisper review, the drugstore has really been killing it lately! Today's product is the L'Oreal Lip Lacquer ($7.99) in the shade Rose On and On and these Lip Lacquers are supposed to be dupes of the YSL Glossy Stains. Unfortunately, I've never tried a YSL Glossy Stain so I can't really compare it but I can imagine how this product is supposed to work and whether it's a good product in general.

Colors of the Rainbow Tag!

The Colors of the Rainbow Tag has been floating around YouTube for quite some time now. Since it's the most current and popular tag at the moment, I decided to give it a shot and I had a lot of fun with it! The colors are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, pink and multicolored and you're supposed to find beauty and fashion products that correspond to those colors.

The Beauty Blogger Tag

I was tagged by the wonderful Tshering over at TiTi's Corner to do the Beauty Blogger tag. She's a fellow beauty blogger with a lot of great content over on her site so be sure to check her out!

The Rules:
1. State who the tag was created by: The Beau Bow
2. Tag five beauty bloggers
3. Title this like I have done to state what the tag is about

1. Name a beauty routine you rarely do:
Yikes. A beauty routine that I rarely do would be using my face masks regularly. I always buy face masks and tell myself that I will work them into my regular routine but I always forget to use them or don't have the time or patience at night to sit there with a face mask on. I really should get into the habit of using one since I generally do see pretty decent results even after one use.

2. Is washing your makeup brushes something you do regularly?
Depends on what you consider regularly. I like to spot cleanse my brushes with a Wet Ones wipe after every other use and deep cleanse my brushes with baby shampoo every two to three months. I noticed that as long as I spot cleanse, I don't need to deep cleanse my brushes as often, which also causes the bristles to fall out and deteriorate quicker.

3. How long will you last with chipped nail varnish?
That varies. If I'm super busy throughout the week then I probably won't even notice it's chipped, but if I have time to spare then I'll take it off immediately.

4. How long do you put off buying/replacing a beauty or nail polish product even if you need it (i.e., top coat, foundation and so on)?
I tend to buy replacements almost immediately when it comes to necessary beauty products. If I absolutely cannot live without it, then it's more than likely I already have a backup of it.

5. What is your worst beauty habit?
Prepare yourself for it's pretty gross but I really can't help myself when it comes to squeezing out blackheads and pimples. I know it's bad but they're just asking for it!

6. Name something non-beauty related that you put off doing all the time.
Cleaning my room. I really don't vacuum or tidy up as much as I should.

7. When going out somewhere, do you leave getting ready until the last minute or no?
I'm typically good at getting to places on time because I always leave myself an hour and thirty minutes to get ready before I head out. I've gotten my morning routine down to a science and know when to cut out certain parts of my routine to save time, just in case I'm running late.

8. Can you commit to spending bans?
I don't know! I'm a horrible shopaholic but I've always wanted to try one of those no buy challenges.

9. How organized is your makeup and nail polish collections?
My makeup collection is mostly organized and my nail polish collection is organized by color.

10. What is the longest time you've gone without writing a blog post?
Probably two weeks? I'm not very sure.

I tag: Traci, Jayne, Wanischa, Steph & Denysia!
