For real though...what is up with the drugstore these days?! I went from being a total drugstore hater to a drugstore junkie. I think I've said this in my past like 5 posts but the drugstore has really been killing it lately! I swear that almost everything I've tried from the drugstore in the past few months has been a hit and this Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles ($7.99) is no exception.
This product claims to erase the appearance of dark circles, fine lines and puffiness around the eyes. The two key ingredients in this product are Goji berry and Haloxyl. Goji berries are antioxidants, which helps to neutralize the destructive power of free radicals. There's been suggestions that antioxidants help to slow down aging but none of the research has found any conclusive evidence. Haloxyl, on the other hand, is a combination of active ingredients that absorb and eliminate the colored pigments in your skin that cause the appearance of dark circles. So if the Goji berry isn't working, then the Haloxyl should, right?!
I haven't seen a dramatic improvement in my dark circles or puffiness and I'm not quite old enough to have intense fine lines but I would like to point out that the claim literally includes the phrase "the appearance of." So I wouldn't say that the product physically fades your dark circles, fills your fine lines and reduces the puffiness. It merely blurs the imperfections and conceals, which is what a concealer should be doing.
At this time, I would like to talk about the packaging. The packaging is unlike that of any other concealer I've seen at the drugstore. It is a twist-up concealer that is dispensed through a sponge top. I'm not sure how hygienic that is but I don't think you'd be having too many dirty germs on your under eye area anyways, at least I hope not!

I'm obsessed with this stuff. I use it together with a brightener. It's my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI don't have trouble with it going to quickly though. I've had the one I have now well over two months and am only maybe 1/2 way through. Weird..

did you get light? I find that light is too light and medium is too dark for me :(
ReplyDeleteI've heard a lot of this, but I haven't had a chance to pick it up yet! Thanks for the info! :)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! (:
ReplyDeleteYeah, I have it in the shade light. It works perfect for my skin but I might have to go a shade lighter in the Fall/Winter since I am slightly tanner than my natural skintone.
ReplyDeleteGlad this works well for you! I don't conceal my under eyes all the time, but have been curious about this product. I was a bit iffy about the application, but it doesn't seem too bad :D
ReplyDeleteYou're so lucky! I HAVE to conceal my under eyes all the time because I have pretty bad dark circles ):
