If you saw my recent Instagram post, then you've already seen my latest nail art design. It's a simple gradient nail with a silver glitter top coat and I'm going to teach you how to do it yourself! I decided to name it "Sweet Dreams" because of its hazy dreamy look and it kind of reminds me of cotton candy.
You will need a base coat and a silver glitter top coat, I used Sally Hansen's Double Duty Base & Top Coat and Essie's Set in Stones; I also used a fast dry top coat, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat, because I'm prone to messing up my nails since I'm too impatient to wait for them to dry. As for the actual colors, you will need a light blue, a light purple and a light pink; I used Essie's "Bikini So Teeny," "Nice is Nice," and "French Affair." Finally, you'll need a regular triangular cosmetics sponge that you can find at the drugstore.
As always, start off with a base coat to protect your natural nails. After that dries, take your cosmetics sponge and make three stripes along the base of the sponge with your colored polishes and dab it on your nails; be sure to work quickly because the sponge soaks up the polish! I repeated this process about 2-3 times for each nail, but you can repeat it until you're satisfied with the color saturation. If you see that one color seems to be much lighter than the others, you can use the tip of the cosmetics sponge to apply more color. When that dries, apply the silver glitter top coat to blend the colors and add some sparkle. Finally, if you're impatient like me, apply your quick dry top coat so you don't have to wait an eternity for your nails to dry! When everything is done, you can use a q-tip and some nail polish remover to clean up your nails and get the excess polish off your fingers.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! If you decide to try this nail design, be sure to let me know with a comment below.
